IYEC Cholera Response Project

Water hygiene and sanitation has always been a great problem in the South west Region in general and Fako, Manyu and Ndian division in particular, as a result there have been constant high rate of cholera out break in these divisions leading to many dead and illnesses in the communities.

IYEC with an Emergency grant from MISEREOR Germany is carry out the following WASH activities in some communities of Fako division. This has created an impact in the live of some 2000 people and has also reduce the effects of Cholera in the Communities.

IYEC WASH team members are carrying out the following activities

– Door to Door Sensitisation on Water Hygiene and Sanitation
– Sensitisation on Cholera; it’s mode of Transmission and methods of Prevention
– Sensitisation on preliminary methods of water treatment, water

There is need for re-habilitation and construction of new sustainable water systems in the South west region. system maintenance and sustainable management
